Suspected Criminal Shot & Killed After He Turned Violent And Threatened To Kill Anyone Stopping Him

Police in Accra have confirmed that a suspected criminal was shot dead during an intelligence-led operation at Ashaiman late Friday night.

According to reports gathered from security officials, the suspect resisted arrest and turned violent when police moved in on him.

Witnesses say he threatened to kill anyone who attempted to stop him. Police officers were left with no choice but to use force after he brandished a weapon and tried to attack.

A locally manufactured pistol, several rounds of ammunition, and crude weapons were recovered from the suspect.

The Ashaiman Divisional Police Command revealed that the man was part of a gang that had been troubling residents in areas such as Zenu, Katamanso, Nmai Dzorn and parts of Ashaiman Township.

Investigations show the gang often operated during the early morning and late evening, targeting workers heading to or returning from their jobs.

Victims were mostly robbed of their phones, money, and other valuables. Security officers have launched a manhunt for two other accomplices who managed to escape during the raid.

The Police Commander thanked community members for providing valuable information that made the operation possible.

He urged residents to continue supporting the police with timely tips to help reduce crime in their neighborhoods.

In a separate incident in the Central Region, residents of Breman Asikuma were thrown into shock on Sunday after a 52-year-old man attempted to exhume the body of his teenage daughter.

The man, identified as Kwaku Ankomah, insisted that his 14-year-old daughter had not been buried properly and therefore tried to dig up her remains.

Neighbours who saw him at the cemetery rushed to stop him, but he became aggressive and threatened to attack anyone who came near.

Police officers were called in to control the situation. They managed to restrain Ankomah before he could complete the act and later took him into custody for questioning.

Community elders described the act as disturbing and appealed to families to seek counseling or proper mediation when grieving instead of resorting to unusual behaviour.

Both incidents have once again raised concerns about safety and security in Ghanaian communities.

Police have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that security patrols will be intensified in crime-prone areas.
