RIP: Sad News as Newly Employed Female Teacher Dies Immediately After Her Dowry Payment Ceremony

A family in the Eastern Region is mourning the sudden death of their loved one whose wedding plans turned into funeral plans within hours.

Abena Mensah, a 42-year-old teacher at a certain Girls’ High School, died in a road accident in the Eastern Region, just one week before her wedding day.

She was returning home from her dowry payment ceremony in Koforidua when the tragedy happened.

The crash took place around 11 p.m. on the Koforidua-Akim Oda road.

Abena was travelling with her 10-year-old daughter, her future mother-in-law from Akim Oda, and a neighbour.

All four lost their lives in the accident.

Video clips from the day before the ceremony showed Abena dancing and smiling, unaware it would be her last joyful moment.

Her wedding was scheduled for Saturday, August 16.

Her younger sister, Nana Akua, said Abena had been like a mother to her and had cared for her through school. She said it is very hard to accept her death.

She added that WhatsApp groups they had made to plan the wedding are now being used to organize the burial.

Police said the car seemed to be moving very fast before the driver lost control and the vehicle rolled over.

Two other people survived and were taken to the Koforidua Regional Hospital. One died later from injuries. The other, a cousin of Abena’s fiancĂ©, had minor injuries and was discharged.

The family described Abena as a loving and dependable woman whose loss will leave a big emptiness in their lives.
