Ibrahim Alhassan, Head of Current Affairs at EIB Network, has publicly come out in defense of Roads Minister Kwame Governs Agbodza, dismissing claims that the minister is awarding road contracts for personal financial gain.
Speaking with GHOne TV on Saturday, March 28, 2026, Alhassan expressed his firm belief in the minister's integrity, citing Agbodza's modest and self-sufficient lifestyle as evidence of his honest character.
According to Alhassan, the Roads Minister personally fuels and drives his own car and lives in his own house — a lifestyle that, in his view, reflects a man of principle who is not motivated by greed or corrupt intentions.
"I'm aware that Roads Minister Kwame Governs Agbodza fuels and drives his own car and lives in his own house. No one can convince me that he is awarding contracts for personal benefit," Alhassan stated emphatically.
The comments come amid growing public scrutiny and speculation surrounding the award of road contracts under the minister's watch.
Critics have raised concerns about the transparency and fairness of the contract award process, suggesting that some decisions may have been influenced by personal interests. However, Alhassan is not persuaded by these accusations.
The media personality argued that a minister who maintains such a simple and independent lifestyle is unlikely to be using his position for personal enrichment. He urged the public and critics to consider the character and conduct of the minister before drawing premature conclusions.
Alhassan's remarks have sparked mixed reactions across social media and among political commentators.
While some have praised his defense as a fair and character-based argument, others believe that a minister's personal lifestyle alone is not sufficient proof of professional integrity or transparency in public office.
The Roads Ministry is yet to issue an official statement addressing the ongoing controversy.
